Lil Wayne & Swizz Beatz Put On Blast

Lil Wayne delivered his album, Tha Carter V at the end of September. After its released, “Uproar” became an automatic fan favorite and sparked the viral #UproarChallenge that Lil Wayne, Swizz Beatz, Shiggy and many others participated in. The song’s beat reworks G. Dep’s hit single, “Special Delivery” which was released in 2001. Although Wikipedia and other publications acknowledged the sample used in “Uproar,” the producer of “Special Delivery,” Ez Elpee hasn’t received official credit on the album. Now, he’s speaking out against Lil Wayne and Swizz Beatz for using his track without proper credit.

“They stole my shit,” Elpee told HipHopDX about his original reaction to “Uproar.” Elpee heard the record for the first time on September 28th when Tha Carter Vwas released. “Seventeen years and now we’re having extra plays on the record … that was a hit record. It stood the test of time.”

He explained that he isn’t salty about the fact they sampled his beat for “Uproar,” but he does find it a bit insincere that they haven’t given him the proper credit for it.

“I went into the comments or whatever, and [Swizz] is trying to downplay it,” he said. “It’s just like if I took ‘Ruff Ryders Anthem’ and did it over and didn’t give him a credit for it … I know you need a record. I understand that. I know you’re trying to reinvent yourself. That’s dope. There’s nothing wrong with that. But like damn my nigga, like you trying to act like you never heard ‘Special Delivery?'”
