Nicki Minaj followed through on her promise to donate $25,000 to former “Cosby Show” actor Geoffrey Owens.
According to TMZ, Nicki’s team reached out and sent a check to Owens after vowing to give him $25,000 on her Queen Radio show. The gesture was a response to someone trying to shame him by posting a photo of him bagging groceries at Trader Joe’s.
“This man is a whole fu**ing legend,” said Nicki during the broadcast earlier this month.

Now Owens is paying it forward. He decided to donate all the money to the Actor’s Fund in memory of his late “Cosby Show” co-star Earle Hyman.
“I would like to give this donation of 25k to the Actor’s Fund in memory of the late, great Earle Hyman—who played Cosby’s father, Russell, on ‘The Cosby Show’—who lived his last many years and died at the Actors’ Home, (funded and run by the Actor’s Fund),” said Owens. “I am extremely grateful to Nicki Minaj for enabling struggling actors to continue pursuing their dreams.”
When I look at this picture of Geoffrey Owens, the only things that come to my mind are courage, humility and dedication. Very few artists, especially actors, can fully support themselves in their craft. Taking honest, hard work to offset those dry periods is honorable. pic.twitter.com/tql80NegJt

Nicki also saluted Owens for his donation. “I’m happy to be a part of a great cause,” said the Queen rapper. “I wish Geoffrey much success and want him to know how loved he is. Rest in Peace to Earle Hyman.”
Since the photo went viral, Owens has received several job offers, including a 10-episode gig on Tyler Perry’s OWN show “The Haves and the Have Nots.”
