King Push is coming. Kanye West announced last month that Pusha T’s album would drop May 25, and he’s keeping his promise.
Pusha T’s manager and Def Jam Executive VP, Steven Victor, confirmed to DJBooth that Pusha will indeed release King Push this Friday.
During an interview with Complex last year, Pusha said the oft-delayed project would be the “album of the year.” “Perfection takes time,” he said. “2018, my album will be album of the year. Rap. Straight rap. You already know who on the production so we ain’t even gotta talk about it.”
His manager Victor reiterated the “album of the year” claim in a text message last week, to which Pusha responded, “I’m scared to say but I think it’s flawless.”

As previously announced, Kanye West produced the entire LP, which follows 2015’s King Push — Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude. He and Yeezy crafted three versions of the project before finalizing it.
“I’ve done this album like three times,” Pusha said at Made in America. “[Kanye] come in, he pick all the beats and shit. Then he hears the beats and he scraps them and says ‘I can do better.’ He’s done that shit like three times.”

Earlier this month, Kanye revealed the tentative 8-song tracklisting for King Push, which includes “Sociopath,” “Games We Play,” and “Infrared.”
In addition to Pusha, ‘Ye also announced a June 1 release date for his own album, as well as a June 8 drop for his joint project with Kid Cudi, Kids See Ghosts. Teyana Taylor is also expected to release her album on June 22.
