Royce da 5’9″ recently teased a “shut-the-internet-down” verse from Logic. Today (May 4), he unleashes that lengthy rhyme in “Caterpillar (Remix),” a bonus cut from his latest LP, Book of Ryan.
While Royce’s verses remain the same, Logic replaces Eminem for the revamp. “Sold a quarter million records in my first week and BET still don’t wanna let me perform,” he raps. “Maybe it’s ’cause my pigment, maybe I’m being ignant / Maybe it’s all a figment of my imagination.”
The Maryland rapper also reveals a bit of advice he received from J. Cole. “Cole said fuck all this black and white, it’s time to unite,” he adds. “Be who you are, identify as a star / Fuck all the jewelry and money inside of your car.”
After name-checking Cole, Bobby Tarantino shouts out other MCs, including Kendrick Lamar, Chance the Rapper, Joey Bada$$, Drake, and himself. “Shoutout to true emcees that love the culture / From Duckworth to Chano, Jermaine and Joey / And Aubrey and can’t forget Bobby.”
Recently, Royce spoke on the “Caterpillar (Remix)” during an interview with Rap-Up. “He’s spitting that brutal honesty and he spit for like 50-something bars,” said Royce. “It’s one of those shut-the-internet-down-for-a-couple-of-days verses for sure. I’m proud of him for that one.”
Rap Bruce Willis followed that up with a warning. “The hardest Hip Hop feature I’ve ever done in my entire life is on Royce da 59’s new album dropping May 4th,” he tweeted.
