Stargate, the Norwegian producing and songwriting team behind some of pop’s biggest hits, brings together PARTYNEXTDOOR and 21 Savage for their new single “1Night.”
The trap-infused production, which also features Murda Beatz, is a celebration of one-night stands. PND supplies the hook and shouts out Drake, while Savage promises his girl the “best night” of her life, but he has no plans to settle down. “Savage getting married? Yeah, right,” raps Amber Rose’s ex.
During an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Stargate opened up about the collaboration. “We’re so excited to put this record out,” said Tor Erik Hermansen, one half of the production duo. “The whole reason we came to America in the first place was because we’ve always loved hip-hop. We grew up loving hip-hop, listening to hip-hop in Norway. I was in Oslo and Mikkel was in Trondheim and it was just a lifelong dream. So now to be able to, you know, years later come here and make the records that we really always wanted to make is really a full circle moment and a dream come true.”
Last year, Stargate released their solo single “Waterfall” with Pink and Sia. They are now readying a solo project and have 6-8 songs finished, including one featuring a “big global artist.”
