In between recording Migos’ Culture II, Quavo has been in the studio with Kanye West. While fans might expect ‘Ye behind the boards, it’s actually been the other way around.
“I did a couple beats for Kanye,” Quavo revealed during an interview with Los Angeles radio station REAL 92.3. “Me and [DJ] Durel.”
Huncho, who prefers to use Fruity Loops to make his instrumentals, said that crafting beats for Kanye allowed him to get a glimpse into Yeezy’s work as a producer, as well. “It’s crazy,” he added. “He got a crazy different feel. He got all his old shit that he came, that he had coming in making beats…He still uses his original keyboard and he still has old hard drives, old samples, and beats.”
In the past, the two have collaborated on tracks like Yo Gotti’s “Castro” and the star-studded “Champions.”
Elsewhere during the interview Takeoff shared his love for wrestling and Offset said the group shouldn’t be excluded from top artist discussions simply for being a collective. “When they be saying the top, there be some flops on there,” he said. “I don’t see the gang on there. Something wrong. It’s a cheat code to keep us out. You can’t keep us out though.”
Culture II is due Jan. 26.
