Drake’s journey from Toronto to Houston will be the focus of a new documentary by social media influencer MarQuis Trill.
A trailer for the doc features footage of the 6 God in H-Town for his annual Houston Appreciation Weekend. It also includes other glimpses of Drizzy throughout his career.
“People always ask, ‘How did you get started?'” Trill explained in the doc announcement. “Well one way was filming @Champagnepapi in Houston, Texas. Every concert, event, club, or appearance that happened in H-Town, I was there.”
Trill went on to say that Houston’s value will be detailed throughout the doc. “[Drake] credits Houston for the culture and the impact it had on him with launching his career – specifically on May 8, 2009, the show at Warehouse Live,” he added. “Hope everyone enjoys my artistic documentary.”
Although a release date has yet to be announced, Trill confirmed that it will arrive this summer. “New @Drake documentary I directed is going viral on Instagram,” he tweeted. “5th year anniversary of filming and working with this guy. Documentary dropping in the summer time. Drake like you never seen him. Last addition to the film will be his house warming in Toronto when it’s completed!”

It’s unclear whether Drake is endorsing the project, but the multifaceted rapper is planning his own foray into Hollywood with a series of film and television projects including The Carter Effect, “Top Boy,” and more.
