Prosecutors state the Oklahoma City policeman lured on his prey by looking up their police records based on their criminal history. So, if you were a prostitute or had drug charges and were in the same vicinity as Holtzclaw, you were doomed as he would threaten to exploit these charges against you if you did not comply with his rules. He than would assault you, which eventually would escalate into groping, oral sodomy and ultimately rape.
Holtzlcaw was found guilty after 40 hours of court hearings, in 18 of the 36 charges he faced, which included four counts of rape in the first degree and four of forced oral sodomy.
Although his punishment has not been set, Holtzclaw has been recommended by the jury to serve 263 years of prison time.
District Attorney David Prater said:
“We’re going to ask the judge to make sure that this defendant never sees the light of day. And we’re going to ask him to run consecutive, every count.”
Oklahoma City Police Chief William Citty was also ashamed with his police officer, citing in his termination letter:
“Your offenses committed against women in our community constitute the greatest abuse of police authority I have witnessed in my 37 years as a member of this agency.”
Holtzclaw’s downfall began after a woman told authorities she was assaulted by Holtzclaw at a traffic stop in June 2014. In the following months, investigators worked vigorously at finding out the truth and what they found was a terrifying pattern of sexual abuse.
Officer Holtzclaw was then fired from the police force in January after an internal investigation was concluded.
Daniel Holtzclaw, 29, is now known for exploiting his police badge as a way of intimidating victims to keep quiet about him raping them and has been convicted. Sentencing is set for the beginning of 2016.
