A violin, that was played while the Titanic was sinking, was auctioned off on Saturday in London. Band leader Wallace Hartley played the violin on the luxury liner’s deck, as passengers panicked and filled life boats on the infamous night in April 1912. The Titanic memorabilia was auctioned off for $1.46 million dollars! The violin was found strapped to Hartley’s body, 10 days after the ship sank. It was returns to his fiancee, Maria Robinson and was donated to her local Salvation Army in England after her death in 1939. Before being sold, the violin was prices at $500,000.
