A$AP Rocky and Lana Del Ray’s collaboration on the song “Ridin,’”produced by the Kickdrums, was set to appear on the Brooklyn producers’ Follow The Leader mixtape (which debuted yesterday) but the song was suddenly pulled from the compilation just an hour before its release. A preview hit the Internet on Monday night, but it turns out that A$AP has decided to keep the full track for his upcoming debut album.
The Kickdrums told MTV Hive that the last time they heard from A$AP he said, “You guys can use it for your mixtape and I’ll use it too for my album. You cool with that?” But things didn’t go according to planned and his label stepped in to hold the track
When asked how A$AP and Lana even came together for the song the Kickdrums explained, “I mean, she’s a fan of hip-hop, and he’s a fan of hers, and the beat managed to just kinda bring them together. That’s actually the idea of this whole tape, the genre-bending that we as the KickDrums naturally do, ’cause we grew up with a bunch of different influences…”
For those who are disappointed that it’s not out yet, we have to respect the fact that A$AP wants the song on his own album.
In the mean time, we can probably expect collaboration between Lana Del Rey and Tyler, the Creator. “Recently found out Lana Del Ray Wanted To Work With Me. Had No Idea. If Your Reading This Im Down, I Have Pretty Instrumentals,” Tyler tweeted last week. LDR finally responded over the weekend by tweeting, “@fucktyler You're Number 1.”
