5 Reasons Drake Needs To Respond To Common's Diss Track ASAP

Sorry, Common. But it sounds like Drake isn't going to take the bait.

Almost three weeks ago, Com released a freestyle over the Rick Ross, Drake, and French Montana song, "Stay Schemin'," which featured a host of lines aimed directly at Drizzy. "I'm taking too long with this amateur guy," he rapped, "You ain't wet nobody, nigga, you Canada Dry!"

Three weeks later, we still haven't heard a response from Drake. And, according to a conversation that the Canadian MC had with Nah Right last weekend, we won't be hearing a response anytime soon, either. Drake thinks Com's shots at him were simply a ploy to get him some extra attention and he's not going to entertain them with a response record. "Despite how it's been worded by him, that situation is not a 'hip-hop moment' or a 'battle for the sake of musical integrity,'" Drake said. "It's a ploy for attention around the release of an album. More than anything, it was just disappointing 'cause what kid isn't a fan of what Common has done for our genre. A guy who made such an incredible career for himself based off expressing genuine feelings about life and love is now targeting me for sharing my story."

Well, alrighty then. Guess that means we really won't be getting a reply anytime soon. But, you know what, Drake? You should respond. We're not saying you need to release "Ether, Part 2." But this isn't Charles Hamilton dissing you. It's Common frickin' Sense. And we've got five reasons that you should put together a track that, at the very least, addresses the beef and recognizes it as more than just a cheap publicity stunt. So, get back in the booth, pull your BlackBerry out, and get to work. Hip-hop deserves it. —Chris Yuscavage
