Texas Police Shot & Killed 8th Grader Holding A Pellet Gun.

Posted by Unknown on 9:28 AM

Texas police are wildin for respect if yu ask me! Jamie Gonzalez has been identified as the 15-year-old 8th grader who was shot and killed by Brownsville, Texas police yesterday morning in the hallway of his middle school.

According to authorities, Jamie was brandishing a pellet gun that closely resembled a real firearm. But now, Jamie's parents are asking why did the police used such excessive force.

Jaime Gonzalez Sr. asked the Associated Press:

"Why was so much excess force used on a minor? Three shots. Why not one that would bring him down?"

Jamie's mother, Noralva Gonzalez, showed photos of her son wearing his band uniform on her cell phone, Jamie was drum major in the school band.

Then she flipped through three close-up photos she took of bullet wounds in her son's body, including one in the back of his head.

Noralva told reporters:

"What happened was an injustice, I know that my son wasn't perfect, but he was a great kid."

According to Police Chief Orlando Rodriguez, shortly before the shooting, Jaime walked into a classroom and punched a boy in the nose for no apparent reason.

Police did not know why he pulled out the weapon. After about 20 minutes, police received a call about an armed student and shots being fired.

Teachers locked classroom doors and turned off lights, and some frightened students dove under their desks. They could hear police charge down the hallway and shout for Gonzalez to drop the weapon, followed by several shots.

Two officers fired three shots, hitting Gonzalez at least twice.

School superintendent Carl Montoya remembered Gonzalez as "a very positive young man." He told the AP:

"He did music. He worked well with everybody. Just something unfortunately happened today that caused his behavior to go the way it went. So I don't know."

Jamie's father said he had no idea where his son got the gun or why he brought it to school, adding: "We wouldn't give him a gift like that."

Jamie's family and friends were outside his home last night paying their respects to the family.

Did police use excessive force on Jamie?
