Yuri Wright, a top cornerback recruit from Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) was expelled from the school on Wednesday because of offensive tweets he made on Twitter, according toThe Record of Bergen County, N.J.
The Record quoted Don Bosco coach Greg Toal as confirming that Wright, who had been a starter the past two years for Don Bosco Prep, had been expelled because of the tweets.
Wright, a 6-2, 180-pound player listed as the No. 3 defensive back in the 2012 class by Rivals.com, was expelled just days after Michigan had cancelled a scheduled visit by Wright.
Don Bosco Prep was the No. 1 team this season in the USA TODAY Super 25 high school football rankings. The Ironmen went 11-0 and won their sixth consecutive state title.
